Best NFL Picks for Week 9

We’ll bet you would love to be in an NFL Pick ‘Em Contest against us right about now. We can’t seem to get much in the way of traction with our NFL picks. Then again, we also thought it was a good idea to bank on Matt Moore on the road on a short week of preparation. You can be the judge of our sanity going into Week 9.

Denver Broncos +9.5 at Philadelphia Eagles – Ugh. The Broncos have been disgustingly bad of late, losing 23-10 to the Giants, 21-0 to the Chargers and 29-19 to the Chiefs in their last three games. But let’s remember that this is a team that also pummeled Dallas 42-17 in Week 2 and took care of business against Oakland two weeks later. Denver can play some ball. Sure, Philadelphia is the best team in the NFL, but the switch to Brock Osweiler under center made a ton of sense for Broncos head coach Vance Joseph. Osweiler isn’t the permanent answer, but he’s familiar with the system in Denver and can’t possibly be any worse than Trevor Siemian has been. A jolt at quarterback might be just what this team needs to at least look competent against the Eagles and stick within single-digits.

Tennessee Titans -4 vs. Baltimore Ravens – We’re not buying the Ravens at all. May we present the list of quarterbacks Baltimore has beaten this year?

Andy Dalton
DeShone Kizer
EJ Manuel
Matt Moore

Marcus Mariota? Just a tad better than those stiffs.

We’re still concerned about the shot that Joe Flacco took last week that concussed him. He’s ready to get back on the field and has cleared protocol, but until we see what happens the first time Flacco gets hit, we’re not convinced that he’s 100 percent. Even if he is, Mariota should be in a lot better shape off of a bye than he was for his games against the Colts and Browns. We can’t see the Titans punting this one.

Green Bay Packers +2 vs. Detroit Lions – Brett Hundley hasn’t been good, but having a bye week and an extra day of practice to get ready for the Lions should only help him out. But let’s be real here: Why in the hell are the Lions favored in Green Bay? They’ve been favored at Lambeau Field exactly once since Brett Favre became the quarterback of this team, and they still couldn’t figure out how to beat Matt Flynn in a Week 17 game that featured the Packers’ JV squad posing as the actual Packers. The Lions have lost three games in a row, their offensive line is a wreck, and they’re playing in a building that has literally been hell for them since Herman Moore, Brett Perriman and Barry Sanders were running the show in Motown. Hundley doesn’t seem like such a bad option anymore.
