Best NFL Picks for Week 13

The one thing we weren’t thankful for this Thanksgiving was the horrid break we suffered with the Giants against Washington. New York did everything it had to do in that game to cover the 7.5 points, yet in typical Giants fashion it still found a way to lay the egg of all eggs and fail to stick inside of the number. ‘Tis the life of a bettor.

Week 13 is shaping up to be one of the tougher to handicap of the season with as many as five or six potential playoff matchups on tap.

Atlanta Falcons -3 vs. Minnesota Vikings – It takes a giant amount of fortitude to bet against the Vikings the way they’re playing. There were times it felt like they were toying with a good Detroit team on Thanksgiving Day, and there was no doubt they were the better team the game prior against a Super Bowl-contending Rams outfit. Still, the Falcons are finally starting to put it all together. They’ve won three games in a row, and they’ve done so by getting the ball into the hands of Julio Jones more often. That’s always a good sign. Devonta Freeman is a good bet to return to the lineup this week as well. At some point, Case Keenum is going to revert back into Case Keenum. This is as good a spot as any for that to happen.

Kansas City Chiefs -3 at New York Jets – The Chiefs have lost five of their last six games, and they’re reeling as they head into the Meadowlands for the second time in three weeks. Things have been sour for the Chiefs offensively as they only have two legitimate offensive touchdowns in their last three games. But at some point, Patrick Mahomes is going to come into the lineup and at least make things a little more interesting. The Jets have looked very Jets-like these last couple months. They haven’t lost a game by more than one score in this stretch, but they also only have a victory to show for their work—a Thursday nighter against a Buffalo team that might be the toughest to handicap in the NFL.

Philadelphia Eagles -3 at Seattle Seahawks – It’s a trio of three-point favorites on our NFL Week 13 card this week, and we have more confidence in the Eagles than we do in any of these other selections. The Seahawks might have beaten up the 49ers last week, but they’re a shell of the team that was among the contenders for the NFC crown this year. With an offensive line in shambles, a running game that doesn’t exist and a secondary that is missing two of its best three players, Seattle doesn’t have the horses to run with the best team in the NFC. We suspect this game will end up getting out of hand in a hurry, and it’s exactly why the odds makers aren’t afraid to line the Seahawks as a pup at home for just the second time since 2012.
